Nairobi: December 22nd, 2015: Chase Bank Kenya has announced a sponsorship deal worth KES 3 million with the rising Motor Cross Champ Tejas Hirani. The sponsorship is the first step in the Bank’s commitment to transforming the motor sport in Kenya by supporting upcoming rallying enthusiasts.
Handing over the sponsorship cheque to Mr. Hirani, Chase Bank Head of Brand, Magdalene Mulandi said the bank was keen on growing Youth Enterprise “and sponsoring Tejas is our commitment to the same.”
“Tejas is one of the most exciting prospects in motorsport today. At just 17 years old he has already achieved success domestically and internationally on both dirt and tarmac – but he has his sights firmly set on becoming a world champion. We want to help him achieve what matters most to him,” Ms. Mulandi said.
In March this year, the 17 years old speed master won the Formula Gulf 1000, a Competition Driving School that equips young drivers with the knowledge and experience required when they move up to FIA F4, Formula Renault or EuroFormula Open. He kicked off the practice session by setting the fastest times and then grabbed pole position to start the race from the front grid. He then raised the bar for all the racers by breaking the track lap record in Dubai.
Thanking the Chase Bank, Mr. Hirani said: “I’m grateful to Chase Bank for having faith and confidence in my ability to excel in motorsports and this sponsorship will go a long way in helping me achieve my biggest ambition of becoming a world champion.”
“Motorsports is an expensive undertaking and without proper financial support, it could be quite a challenge - this is the more reason I’m grateful to Chase Bank for the support as it gives me a good start to the New Year.”
First Kenyan FIA World Rallycross Champion
In September, Hirani impressed the rallycross world on his debut in the RX Lites Cup at the Barcelona F1 circuit in Spain, where he took his first steps on the ladder of becoming the first Kenyan, and by extension African, FIA World Rallycross Champion.
Mr. Hirani has also participated in other RX Lites Cup events held in Turkey and Italy, both held in the month of October, using the three events of the 2015 season to gain experience ahead of a full campaign in 2016.
“Mr. Hirani is an inspiration to many youths and his determination and ambition are real with sound achievements. As a bank we are proud to support him as he works towards becoming the Kenya’s first FIA World Rallycross Champion,” said Ms. Mulandi.
Chase Bank Kenya is one of the fastest growing banks in Kenya. With a network of over 50 branches, the bank has a very dynamic market positioning including its historical performance, both in terms of collecting deposits for granting loans exceeding the local banking industry performance without altering the quality of the assets that remain fundamentally sound.
