The Chase Group Foundation is committed to making a difference through initiatives that create national impact. This is what drew the Foundation to the AMREF steered initiative, Stand Up For African Mothers, a 3 year partnership with an annual funding of 15 Million which is to see to the training of midwives in rural Kenya.
In 2010, about 162 000 women died in Africa during pregnancy and childbirth, representing 56 per cent of the global total. These are sad and alarming statistics. However, one midwife will be able to look after 500 mothers every year and safely deliver 100 babies, changing dramatically the current scenario.
On Saturday the 9th of February the Foundation held its first ever Charity Walk to aid the cause. Participants both young and old gathered at the Ngong Forest Sanctuary eager to play their part for the cause. The contribution made by all is testament to the passion we have as an organization and as a people.
We look forward to hosting this event annually in order to bring our community together. Once again, we thank you all for your support in making this a memorable day.
